No Kidding, Really?

Some of the smartest people I know are at the Government Accountability Office (GAO), which is an arm of the US Congress. They just voted 2-1 to form a union. According to the Post, the really smart people who work for Congress don’t like having no say in how management structures compensation. You’d think this is something that other people in Congress would, you know, get. But given where we are on this same issue in NCLB, perhaps there’s some sort of general mental block on this.
The analysts, by the way, voted to form a local of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, which also represents really smart people at places like Boeing and even the Economic Policy Institute. We congratulate them and welcome them. The Post’s article quotes friend-of-the blog Jamie Horwitz on the high tech nature of the campaign (Hi Jamie!).
