We Interrupt This Blogging...

I may have something to add to the NCLB blogging later on, perhaps with some space-related imagery. Right now, I want to write a bit about an AFT higher education campaign. As a former adjunct instructor at NYU, CUNY and other schools, I remember the frustrations that come from low pay, lousy benefits and a pool of available full-time jobs that seemed way too small. Something felt out of whack in the way the profession was staffed. And in the years since, it has gotten worse.
Our campaign, called Faculty and College Excellence or FACE, is designed to create more full-time slots and provide greater dignity for faculty who are not on the tenure track. It's timely to write about it today, because our colleague Craig Smith used the weekly AFL feature over at Firedoglake to blog about the campaign yesterday. Craig is also blogging about this over at FACE Talk, a new AFT blog devoted to raising awareness about the issue.
