Holiday Cheer

One of the things I love about this time of year is the spirit of giving. For those of you looking for a fun way to give, take a look at AudioExposure, a new website created by our colleague Jared and his wife Stacey. AudioExposure is a big music sharing experiment that is also helping a great non-profit. Every time someone adds a favorite song of theirs to the growing list on the site, Jared and Stacey donate $1 to CriticalExposure, a DC non profit that teaches kids to use photography to advocate for change in their communities. We've worked with them as part of our Building Minds campaign. The song I posted was Whale, by Cheyenne. Totally fun, totally for a good cause. Adding a song to the list is very easy and it doesn't matter if you don't know your mp3s from BVDs - so go and visit.

I also want to mention two projects on DonorsChoose. We've written about it before, but for those who don't know DonorsChoose is a website that allows people to to find specific projects that need funding in classrooms across the country.  Thanks to our colleague Dawn, who helped found a DC group that merged with DonorsChoose, this has become one of my family's favorite charities.  My wife, Jenny, prefers to support schools in the DC area (where, she likes to remind me, we actually live) and I mostly like to go to Brooklyn. This year we've contributed towards the puchase of sets of novels for special education students at DC's Ballou High School, and towards a projector for the science lab at PS 230, where I watched filmstrips when I was seven.  In both cases we didn't contribute enough to cover the whole cost, so if you'd like to help finish the projects, click on over.
