Damn the Facts, Full Speed Ahead

One result of our reduced blogging is that we don't call, uh, "baloney" on many of the idiotic things said or written about education policy and unions, but I couldn't pass this one up.
After noting that the American Pediatric Society has called for more pediatric research, Charles Barone writes that he can't imagine "the national teachers' unions making a similar call for better education research."
Well, I'm sure flat-earthies can't imagine the world is round, but it is. And, fortunately, we don't have to imagine everything about the world. We can actually go out hunting for facts and such.
When writing about the AFT, one good place to start might be our Web site, where you'll learn that the AFT has called for more federal funding for research on English language learners, school buildings and learning environments, why students drop out of college, reading instruction, and a host of other subjects.
So, can anyone imagine why Charles Barone's thoughts about the teachers' unions that exist only in his imagination would matter to anyone else? Anyone?

I'll also add that AFT's American Educator quarterly has some of the most interesting, research-oriented writing I've seen in a publication oriented toward working educators.
